More than fifty percent of today’s jobs require some kind of technology skills, and experts say that number will increase to seventy-seven percent in the next decade.  The National Committee on Math and Science states that sixty percent of new jobs that will open in the 21st century will require skills possessed by only twenty percent of the current workforce.

Research shows that sixty percent of students lose interest in math and science by eighth grade. The goal of this program is to increase the number of African American females in STEM and STEM related fields by generating excitement in pursuing higher education in STEM fields.
